Safe Ways to Use AI in Your Amazon KDP Content

Amazon has been tracking down and gathering details about AI’s usage in creating content for its Kindle Direct Publishing platform (Amazon KDP).

This is no surprise.

A gazillion videos exist on YouTube showing how to use AI to create this-and-that content to publish on Amazon KDP.

Some really find success, although not sure how long this gold rush will go on.

However, Amazon isn’t silently observing this.

It, now, has a mandatory question to be answered while uploading our book to its KDP platform.

I feel that, regardless of you and I answering whatever to this question, Amazon has muscles to track down and find AI content in our works.

That’s why I wrote this list of safe things to do to create content using AI to self-publish on Amazon KDP: (mostly good for non-fiction)

• Editing your already written work

• Formatting your work

• Checking for grammar errors, spelling checks

• Modify your active/passive voice

• Enhance your sentence structures

• Brainstorm titles, chapter headings

• Get help for supporting points

• Research your target audience

• Optimize meta details like description

• Create outline and summary for your chapters

• Structure the flow of your written sentences

• Improve your already written or created content

In general, if you use AI, it’s wise to specify as ‘Yes’ while setting up your book in Amazon KDP.

Going around this may attract a stronger corrective response from Amazon jeopardizing our account’s good standing.

Also, if you are using AI tools like ChatGPT to just refine your content and not directly copy-pasting content from those tools, you can say ‘No’ while setting up your book on KDP.

To summarize, Amazon is quite strict with authors using AI and it’s best to comply with its rules if you are holding your KDP account dear to heart. So, ensure you specify your choices correctly during eBook setup.
